2nd Antarctica InSync International Science Webinar (09 – 10 September 2025)

Time and place:

  • 07:00-09:30 UTC, Tuesday, 9th September, 2025
  • 15:00-17:30 UTC, Wednesday, 10th September, 2025

To accommodate participants across diverse time zones and ensure broad global engagement, the webinar will take place over two days, with each session offering the same core content.

A dynamic two-day online workshop to advance the scientific planning of Antarctica InSync, an international initiative endorsed by the UN Ocean Decade. Aiming for a circumpolar assessment of Antarctica and the Southern Ocean, the initiative explores the links between ice, ocean, climate, environment, life, and human pressures. This interactive event will connect researchers, early-career scientists, and institutions to discuss innovative methods and define shared research priorities.

BiDS25 – Big data from space 2025 (29 September – 3 October 2025)

Time and place: 29 september – 3 oktober 2025, in person event in Riga, Latvia

BiDS25 – Big data from space 2025 – is an event that aims to bring together key stakeholders from industry, academia, EU institutions and governmental entities within the theme of Big Data from Space. The event will work as a platform to: “share user needs, showcase the latest technical solutions and applications, and define future development roadmaps”.

The focus of this event is to explore synergies between different space domains – Earth observation, Space Science, Weather, Climate and Planetary Observation, Navigation, Positioning and Telecommunications, Mission Operations and System Engineering.  Such synergies can provide a robust foundation for evidence-informed decision making, addressing global challenges like climate change, sustainable competitiveness and civil security.

A precursor course to this event called Big Data Foundations for Earth Observation (22-26 September 2025), will be held 22-26 September also in Riga, Latvia. The objective of this precursor course is to provide the participants with the fundamental knowledge and skills to engage in the activities and discussions held during BiDS 2025.

2nd on Earth Observation (EO) for Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) of Carbon Removals (7-10 October 2025) in Copenhagen

In a joint effort with European Environment Agency (EEA) and in coordination with DG CLIMA, this event is a follow-up of 2024 EO for MRV of Carbon Removals. The event gathers experts from various fields: policy makers, EO industy and scientists (forest, soils and agriculture), carbon credits certification bodies, farm holders, financial institutions.

 Registration by 10 September 2025, 17:00 (CEST).

2nd Ocean Carbon from Space Workshop 2025

The workshop consist of two components:

  1. Online workshop 24 – 26 November 2025
  2. In-person sessions at the International Ocean Colour Symposium (IOCS) 01 – 04 December 2025 in Darmstadt, Germany

The 2nd Ocean Carbon from Space workshop will support progress towards an integrated approach for characterising the ocean carbon cycle using satellite observations and will advance our understanding of its variability across space and time. Outcomes will provide insight into how satellite observations can inform ocean carbon assessments in the Earth System in a climate context, support the evaluation and improvement of climate models, and provide advice and guidance to high-level policy activities.

This workshop is organised in the frame of the ESA SCOPE Project, for further information, please visit the website  https://oceancarbon-scope.org/

The Φnnovation Summit (Q1-Q2 2026) in Italy

The Φnnovation Summit will be held at ESA-ESRIN (Frascati, Italy) in Q1-Q2 2026. This event brings together forward-thinking researchers, bold entrepreneurs, and technology pioneers to explore the future of Earth observation and will spotlight disruptive technologies and approaches that could redefine the future of Earth Observation, exploiting transformative innovations like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Quantum, Neuromorphic, Edge and Bio-inspired Computing, Metamaterials and Surfaces, Immersive Visualisation, Cognitive Space, Computational Imaging, and many more. The Φnnovation Summit is designed to be interactive and community driven. The programme features many parallel sessions, with formats chosen by the attendees themselves -whether it is a fast-paced PechaKucha, an open Fishbowl dialogue or the Main Plenary in the mornings.

More information and links to the registration portal are provided on the event website.

2026 POLINSAR/BIOMASS Workshop

The 12th International Workshop on Science and Applications of SAR Polarimetry and Polarimetric Interferometry and BIOMASS Workshop is currently in the planning/preliminary preparation phase. The workshop is planned to take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia in the last week of February 2026, coorganised with the local host (University of Ljubljana) and the Slovenian Space Office.

It will be preceded by an advanced Training Course on Polarimetry.

The abstracts submission is now open, closing date 24 October 2025.

EO for Official Statistics and policy indicators reporting

The EO for Official Statistics and policy indicators reporting Conference is planned to take place from 23 to 27 March 2026 in ESRIN. The workshop will explore the integration of EO into national statistics processes and policy reporting, addressing how EO data can enhance the accuracy, timeliness, and spatial granularity of key metrics used for example in natural capital assessments, agricultural monitoring, and GHG emission reporting. The aim is to identify how EO can effectively support policy implementation and the simplification of transversal reporting. The event will be coorganised with DG JRC, EEA, DG ESTAT, OECD, DG REGIO, UNEP-WCMC and other entities currently under agreement.

The abstract submission will open on 22nd  September 2025
